So, you already know that you are about to embark on one of the best “adults only” vacays you’ve ever taken. Not only are you off to four fun-filled days in North Carolina’s beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains but during that time you’ll also meet a lot of great people, one of them being hunky chef Ben Robinson of Bravo’s hit TV series, “Below Deck”, who’ll be at camp enjoying all of the beauty, nature, activities and more.
We’ve talked a lot about the activities and excursions, events and food but how much do you know about your accommodations? That’s right—don’t you want to know where will you rest your head at the end of a busy day? Of course, you do. There are plenty of choices (and upgrading is always an option) so check out some of the possibilities. You may be assigned to one of the following:
Cabins 1-5 are included in package
Most of you will be livin’ it up in Cabins 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. The simple, rustic cabins, which sleep 16 campers each, are exactly what you’ll need to be safe, comfortable and bring back the memories of your childhood camp experience. There are even front porches to hang out on. Cabins 1, 2, 3 and 5 are all similar: each one is divided into (4) rooms; each room holds four (4) bunk beds. Each cabin has two (2) bathrooms with two (2) separate, private tub/showers and two (2) separate, private toilets. Check out the layout: CABINS.
Grigsby Dorm is included in package
As many as 20 happy campers will stay in the two bedrooms at Grigsby Dorm. Each bedroom has eight (8) beds (some singles, some are bunks) and a lavatory with a toilet and shower. A furnished meeting area separates the bedrooms. And while the weather in the mountains is spectacular (especially in late summer/early fall, right around the time that camp is in session) and the breeze blows beautifully though open windows, this facility is air conditioned. As a matter of fact, it is the only air-conditioned facility in all of Camp Big. Check out the layout: Grigsby Dorm
Bells Bungalow is include in package
This recently remodeled bungalow has two rooms and comfortably sleeps 14—six (6) in one room and eight (8) in the other. Each room has two (2) separate, private toilets and two (2) separate, private shower/tubs. In between the rooms is a large furnished meeting space complete with a gas fireplace. The bungalow’s “kitchen” is a non-cooking space with a refrigerator, sink and coffee maker. Bell’s Bungalow has everything necessary for your stay. Check out the layout: BELL’S BUNGALOW.
Guenther Lodge – is an upgrade with package
For those of you who prefer private rooms and/or baths, welcome to your “hotel-style” home away from home, Guenther Lodge. There are 14 guest bedrooms—nine (9) private rooms with two (2) full-size beds and a full bath and five (5) private rooms with two (2) twin beds, which share two (2) hall baths. Two (2) of the rooms are equipped to ADA standards.” It houses up to 46 guests. The “non-cooking” kitchen has a sink, microwave, refrigerator and coffee makers, so you can keep cold drinks cold and make hot drinks whenever you’d like. Guenther Lodge has three (3) meeting spaces: The largest area is 25.5 x 29 feet. It features a gas fireplace and has TV/DVD/VHS. It can be set up with table and chairs. The smaller meeting room comes furnished but without a working fireplace. Sarah’s Rocking Porch is the third space. This screened-in porch is built over a beautiful creek; the entire place is set in the woods. It is versatile and can be used for meetings and/or relaxation. The Lodge is Wi-Fi ready. Holsten Meadows Cabin for private groups
Where do you take a group of girls or guys, friends or family when you all want to be together to celebrate a special occasion? Whether you’re looking to bring a group to camp or you’re planning some kind of multi-day private event or retreat and you want a party house—a private party house—look no farther than Camp Big’s Holsten Meadows Cabin. Holsten Meadows Cabin is located just around the bend from Camp Big as well as mere minutes from the quaint little town of Banner Elk, along with all of its incredible restaurants, attractions, and, ski resorts! It’s the perfect getaway space for family reunions, special events, group retreats and so much more. The Cabin has a total of seven (7) bedrooms (divided between two floors); each room is with outfitted with one queen-sized bed and a single futon chair. The three (3) downstairs bedrooms feature private baths with tiled, walk-in showers. Of course, one (1) of these bedrooms is ADA compliant. The large downstairs living space includes a Smart TV, gas fireplace, game table, two (2) couches and a love seat. Of the four (4) bedrooms upstairs, two (2) share a “Jack and Jill” bathroom. The large upstairs living space also includes a Smart TV, game table, two (2) futon couches (which sleeps four) and futon chair (that sleeps one). A well-appointed kitchen includes a microwave, refrigerator, two (2) dishwashers, appliances and coffee maker—everything you could need to keep the party going! Cook up some great tasting food on the non-gas exterior grill, which can then be eaten on the large covered, private deck with forest view or inside. Various areas include the dining area, which has two (2) large tables (each seats eight); another six can sit at the kitchen bar or at the game table, which seats four. The house has WI-FI and an emergency phone. There’s even a washer and dryer, so everyone can go home with clean clothes, making the transition back to reality that much easier.
